The second portable vape developed by DaVinci has been an incredible success. It's sleek and stylish and incredibly user-friendly. The Ascent is an all in one unit with some terrific features.
The Ascent has an easily accessible conduction oven located at the bottom of the vaporizer. It's a ceramic bowl that is glass lined. The bowl is closed off by a two piece glass stem that is stored inside the upper portion of the device. With a glass bowl and an all glass vapor path, it's hard to find any device on the portables market that can produce a taste that is so pure. If you appreciate the unique flavor profiles and subtle notes and scents found in the variety of marijuana available these days, this is the vaporizer for you!
Control & Operation:
DaVinci went with an onboard digital temperature control system that is easy to understand and adjust. With a range reaching 220°C (430°F) and full control with 1° increments, the user can create the exact experience they want and change it on the fly. To use the Ascent, twist open the bottom, fill the oven with a medium to ground herb and twist shut. Pack the bowl fThe power button is tucked away on the top near the mouthpiece. After starting the unit simply slide the glass stem to a height that is comfortable to sip on. Long, slow draws will yield the best result with 15-20 seconds between. Another impressive feature is an auto timer where the user can set a schedule for the temperature. For example, 3 minutes at 175°C, 6 minutes at 190°C, 3 minutes at 205°C. Set it and forget it. The DaVinci Ascent also has a stir stick tucked away at the top near the mouthpiece, so you can mix up your flowers to ensure an evenly vaped bud.
The Ascent has 2 built in 18650 lithium-ion batteries that will produce around 2 hours of vape time, or 6-8 sessions lasting around 12 minutes. This vape will reach the desired temperature in approximately 20 seconds. You must use the proprietary wall charger with the Ascent but you do have the option of pass-through charging if you get caught in the middle of a session and run out of battery. It will take over 3 hours to refill the battery from dead empty.
Feel & Design:
DaVinci really spent some time developing a fantastic user experience. The Ascent fits nicely in the palm of your hand and keeps all the necessities neatly tucked away and on board. The adjustable automatic temperature control timer is a unique and wonderful feature that is pretty useful once you figure out the spectrum of abilities that the THC compound can exhibit. The Ascent comes in 4 finishes; Stealth (black), Croc Skin (silver), Carbon Fiber (gray) and Burl Wood.
From a day to day basis, the Ascent is a dream to keep clean. After removing the already vaped bud from the oven, wipe the edges with a Q-Tip while it's warm. If the edges start to brown, use a little bit of force with the Q-Tip to wipe it clean. After some time, the all glass vapor path will become quite dark. If you don't use or save the resin, a soak in isopropyl alcohol will have it shiny and new in no time.
DaVinci offers a manufacturer's warranty of 2 years on the hardware. Accessories, as usual, are not covered. The Ascent must be purchased from an Authorized Dealer like The Herb Cafe.
This falls under the midrange price for a portable vaporizer. You get a lot for the price, and the taste is unmatched, which is why it's been so incredibly popular for a couple of years.
